Boxwood

Green Mountain- Green Mountain Boxwood is a reliable shrub with dark green leaves and excellent cold hardiness. It grows faster than Dwarf English Boxwood and reaches 3- to 6-feet in height with a 3-foot spread. Green Mountain Boxwood is evergreen and deer tolerant - it needs little maintenance.  It can be planted 2- to 3-feet apart to create a classic hedge.

Green Velvet: Green Velvet Boxwood is a compact evergreen that will only reach 2- to 4-feet in height and stay equally as wide. The leaves are glossy, dark and evergreen. Because of the dense foliage it holds up better against snow and is very cold hardy. This is a deer resistant shrub and great as a hedge, a formal garden, an accent, or even in containers.
Uses - Small specimen, low hedge, foundation plant, edging, parterre or knot garden, containers. Substitutes - ‘Green Mound’, ‘Glencoe’

Suffruticosa: The True Dwarf English Boxwood is the king of shrubs - the classic formal garden structure. It is very slow growing and will reach about 3-feet in height. Proper pruning will create the classic hedge that is not only deer resistant but will make an elegant statement on your property. Plant 2- to 3-feet apart and you will have a hedge that lasts a lifetime.

Winter Gem: are grown for their small, neat, leathery leaves and dense long-lived growth habits. 'Winter Gem' is among the hardiest of the boxwoods. Daylily 

Stella d'Oro:  This is by far the most popular Daylily selection of all time, because it performs so well in all zones, flowering for months on end. Forms a dense clump of grassy green foliage, with upright stems of fragrant, golden-yellow trumpet flowers. Early. Repeat bloomer. Compact habit. Excellent for massing, edging, borders or in mixed containers and tubs. Plants do not usually require dividing for several years, but are easily split apart in fall or early spring. Spent flower stems can be trimmed back after flowers are finished. Remove old foliage in late fall. Award winning.

Cornus (Dog Wood Family)

Argenteo- Marginata Attractive variegated foliage accents any border or Mass Planting. Bright red branches give good winter accent color. White clustered blooms in summer are followed by blue berries in the fall. Balileyi (red twig): This is the classic red-twig dogwood with brilliant bright-red winter stems which are particularly showy against our northwest grey skies. Tiny flat clusters of white flowers appear in late spring followed by white berries in late summer and early fall. The fruit is quite attractive to birds. This shrub gives a great deal for the little it asks in the way of care and attention. It tolerates damp or dry soils, as well as that difficult combination of winter-wet-summer-dry locations. Growth 9 x 9 ft

Isanti: Isanti Dogwood has dark green foliage throughout the season. The pointy leaves turn an outstanding brick red in the fall. It has clusters of creamy white flowers at the ends of the branches in late spring. It produces white berries in late summer. The red branches are extremely showy and add significant winter interest.

Kelseyi: Kelseyi dogwood is prized as a low growing deciduous ground cover with bright green leaves and masses of white flowers appearing in late spring. This dogwood variant forms a shrub 2’-3’ tall and as wide. It has oval to narrowly oblong leaves which are green above and pale below. In late spring flat-topped clusters of small white flowers are formed. As the days shorten in the fall the leaves on this plant turn a bronze to purplish color. After they are shed the plant retains its striking red twigs during the dormant season.

Cotoneaster






Acutifolia: Peking cotoneaster is an upright, deciduous shrub with a rounded top that typically grows to 6-10’ tall and as wide. It is noted for its pubescent twigs, pinkish-white spring flowers, dull green foliage, interesting fall color and persistent black fruits. Great for hedges; dark foliage makes excellent backdrop for other shrubs or perennials. Tolerates wind and wide range of soil conditions. Pruning can be done any time of year.

Euonymus Alatus Compacta

Burning Bush: It is a deciduous shrub. Grows in a mound to 10' tall with a slightly larger spread, though it can easily be kept shorter by pruning. It features elliptic to obovate, dark green leaves (to 3" long) which turn bright red in fall. Fall color can be spectacular and gives rise to the common name. Small, yellowish-green flowers appear in May but are not showy. Small fruits (1/3" red capsules) appear in fall, but are usually hidden by the foliage.

Juniper


Wichita Blue:  Wichita Blue Juniper is an excellent specimen plant. It retains its color throughout the year, no matter where you live in the country. The dusty-blue color is a standout and makes a great addition to your landscape. This large, pyramidal formed juniper is a great plant for windbreaks, screens, and privacy hedges, or it can make a great accent plant anywhere in your garden. Virtually maintenance-free, this juniper never requires pruning or staking up. A strong vigorous grower, Wichita Blue Junipers will grow 12"-18" per year. It reaches a mature height of 15 feet within its first 10 years.

Picea

Baby Blue:Slower growing than the native Colorado spruce, this semi-dwarf selection is useful for smaller landscapes and confined spaces. Dense, eye-catching silvery blue-green foliage holds its color well. Growing only a few inches per year, it develops a broad, pyramidal form. Evergreen. Average landscape size is slow growing. Grows15 to 30 ft. tall and 15 ft. wide.

Bird's Nest Spruce: Bird’s Nest Spruce forms a spreading low growing mound with a depression, or nest, in the center of the plant which gives rise to its name. It is a slow-growing dwarf Norwegian fir that typically grows 2’ tall and 4’ wide after 10 years, though older plants can double this height and more than triple this width after 30 years. It features size spreading, horizontal to slightly ascending branches which form a dense, broad-rounded, shrubby flattened globe. Thin dark gray needles become 3/4” long. In the spring the fresh young buds add interest to this plants.

Globosa: Globe-shaped evergreen shrub is dwarf, flat-topped and densely branched. Bright blue needles hold their color all year but are brighter in summer. A unique accent for that special spot. This little beauty is like a shining sapphire in gardens of hardy green dwarf shrubs. Use it a single accent in Asian schemes or for contrast in gardens heavy in cool colors. Adds brightness to dark parts of the yard and makes a nice low hedge against an emerald lawn. However, its real value is as a simple specimen.
Average size is 3 to 5 ft. tall, 5 to 6 ft. wide.

Potentilla

Gold DropThe Potentilla' Gold Drop'  displays attractive, yellow buttercup flowers all summer.Potentilla is a superb flowering shrub for northern gardens. It is a deciduous shrub that does best in full sun and will flower all summer if trimmed in late June or July. The flowers are borne atop the tips of the new growth. It matures to 2'-3' with an equal spread.
Potentilla also serves as a butterfly nectar source and a host for butterfly larvae. It has an attractive green, copper fall color.

Goldfinger: The Potentilla Goldfinger is a gorgeous, compact shrub. Its brilliant golden yellow flowers are nearly two inches across. Its large, rich yellow blossoms bloom all summer, and are a beautiful against this shrubs fine textured foliage. Besides blooming into late fall, it is also deer resistant. It is widely regarded as one the best yellow-flowering potentilla cultivars.The Goldfingers' compact, mounding form makes it a perfect choice as a border, low hedge or an accent piece in your garden.This shrub requires very little maintenance. It is best pruned in late winter to control its size and shape. If left to grow, it will mature to 3' with a little wider spread.

Mckay White: A compact ball-shaped shrub with showy soft white flowers from June until frost and fine textured dusty green foliage; the ultimate flowering shrub for northern gardens, hardy and  tough. This is a relatively low maintenance shrub, and is best pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard. It will grow to be about 24 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches.

Spirea


Anthony Waterer:  Flat-topped heads of rosy-pink flowers cover this dwarf, deciduous shrub. Attractive new growth in spring is reddish-purple. Use this small plant in the foreground of shrub borders.An excellent choice for the sunny mixed border where this shrub will fit in well and show off red-purple new foliage and summer pink blooms. It also makes a fine low-growing informal hedge to plant along a drive, walkway or in a narrow planting strip. Moderate growing dwarf shrub to 3-5 ft. tall and wide.

Goldflame: Dense, upright mounded shrub features attractive bronze-tinged new growth in spring, maturing to soft yellow-green. Fall foliage color is brilliant coppery-orange. Provides wonderful contrast in shrub borders. Good heat tolerance.The bright yellow-green of the foliage makes this a stand-out shrub for the mixed border, and outstanding fall color makes it a real eye-catcher. Little Princess:   This Japanese spiraea cultivar is an upright, rounded, deciduous shrub which typically forms a compact mound to 30" tall. Features numerous pink flowers in flat-topped clusters (corymbs) in late spring to mid-summer. Attractive to butterflies. Oval, sharply toothed, mint green leaves take on attractive red hues in autumn.

Syringa (Lilac)

Common Purple:In the spring the Lilac will burst into bloom. Lovely clusters of lavender flowers sit against dark green, heart shaped leaves, and the fragrance is just delightful. These plants are so aromatic butterflies and hummingbirds find them irresistible. This shrub has been a favorite for decades because you can essentially plant it and ignore it. Its a very hardy, fast growing, dense upright shrub with heart-shaped blue-green leaves. Bears large, fragrant clusters of lavender flowers in mid May. Height 10 ft x spread 8 ft.

Miss Kim: A dwarf lilac suitable for smaller gardens and foundation beds. Compact, oval-rounded and very hardy. Clusters of fragrant, single, pale violet flowers bloom in late spring. Good reddish-purple fall color. Easy to grow, low maintenance, slow growing shrub. Reaches 6 to 8 ft. tall and wide, slightly larger with age.

Dark green spreader:Very hardy, dense growing evergreen displays attractive soft, dark green needles year-round. A small, low growing, spreading evergreen shrub. Blueberry

Blue Crop:Bluecrop is an all-purpose blueberry bush good for preserves, baking, freezing. and fresh eating. Produces big clusters of large berries that are firm and somewhat tart. Ripens every July producing 10 to 20 lbs of fruit. A Northern highbush variety that requires strongly acidic soil. Fiery red fall leaf color. Grows 4'-6' feet tall. 1-year-old, #1 bareroot bushes, 6" to 12".

Blue Gold:The Gold Medal of flavorful berries. The attractive powder-blue berries are the firmest and will crunch in your mouth, releasing the sweet flavor with subtle hints of acidity. Twenty pounds of medium to large fruits will begin to ripen when Duke finalizes its bountiful harvest. Blue Gold’s high antioxidant berries will harvest for 5 long weeks.When the Bluegold matures it will reach a height of 3 to 5 feet, with an round compact shape. In the fall the leaves will turn yellow.

Duke: Productive and decorative! A handsome bush with three seasons of interest: white, pink-tinged spring flowers; large, light blue summer fruit; and vibrant orange and yellow fall foliage. The large berries, often reaching the size of quarters, are produced in great abundance and have a delicious, tangy-sweet flavor. Duke also makes a very attractive and decorative hedge!

Apple

Golden Delicious: Golden Delicious is increasingly sought out by apple enthusiasts for growing in home orchards as word spreads that if you look beyond the bland reputation of the supermarket examples, this is an apple that truly merits its name.One of the best pollinators for other varieties. Growth rate per years is 1 - 2 feet.Mature Size: 20ft high & 18ft wide

Haralson: Medium-sized fruit is red-striped to solid red. Haralson apples are crisp and juicy, having a tart flavor. They are good for eating, cooking, and are an excellent choice for pies. The skin is medium-tough, and the stem is medium. Extremely winter hardy tree, often begins bearing in second year. Mature Size: 12 to 15 feet.

Honeycrisp:  Sweet as honey. These 3" beauties are quickly becoming a new American favorite. Crisp, cream-colored flesh is mild, sweet and aromatic. Cold-hardy. Ripens in early September. Best pollinators: any Golden Delicious, Stark Jon-A-Red Jonathan or Starkspur Red Rome Beauty. Mature Size: 8-10' tall x 8-10' wide

Jonathan:  The Jonathan Apple Tree is a medium-large size sweet apple with a strong touch of acid making it a wonderful cooking and juicing apple. The flesh is crisp, white and juicy. A late-ripening red apple that is harvested in August. Fruit trees need a minimum of 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. Pollinate with Red or Yellow Delicious. Matures at just 15 feet tall

Red Delicious  The Red Delicious Apple tree is a deciduous, ornamental tree that produces superior fruit. You can grow one as an accent or shade tree for the front yard, or plant several on a side yard for a private orchard.. Red Delicious was the single largest variety produced in Washington State in 2005. Red Delicious has deep red skin and conical shape encasing flesh  that is white and crisp, with a sweet flavor.
Your Red Delicious can grow to 12 feet tall with an equal spread, resulting in relatively rounded crown and pleasing landscape appearance

Red Fuji :  One of the most popular dessert apples, Fuji has mild, sweet flavor and fine-textured, juicy flesh. A treat for fresh eating! Stores very well and stays crisp, both at room temperature and refrigerated. Ripens mid Oct.    A mid-season blooming apple, good pollinators are Whitney Crab, Gala, Gold Rush.  Mature size is 17ft - 20ft high.

Cherry


Bing: The renowned, high-quality cherry. Yields uniform crops of huge, glossy, deep-red almost black cherries. Fruit is juicy and sweet, perfect for snacking right off the tree. Ripens in July. Best pollinators: another sweet cherry variety, such as Windsor.

Peach

Elberta :  Firm, yellow-fleshed freestone is ideal for canning and is equally tasty fresh. Plump rose-blushed fruits have fabulous aroma and honey-sweet taste—absolutely bursting with flavor. Ripens mid to late Sept. Self-pollinating. 
Height: Standard - 18 - 20 feet. Semi dwarf - 8 - 10 feet. 
Spread: Standard- 20 feet. Semi-dwarf - 12 - 14 feet.

Pear

D'Anjou:The D'Anjou Pear is an ornamental tree with exceptional late-ripening fruit. You could plant several in a side yard for a small orchard, or one in sight of a window to enjoy its seasonal display.  D'Anjou is a large and naturally sweet pear. The mild, melting white flesh with delicate aroma has abundant juice and a sweet brisk flavor. Light green in color with a yellow tinge when ripe. d'Anjou pears have exceptional keeping qualities. The best flavor is realized when stored 1-2 months. Excellent for pear crisp. D’Anjou Pear is a semi-dwarf tree growing up to 18 feet in height, making harvest easier.

Twentieth Century:  Asian pears combine the flavor and sweetness of pears with the crunchiness of crisp apples. Also known as pear-apples, salad pears, and crystal pears. Cold hardy, drought resistant, heat tolerant. Fruit should be thinned to one per spur. Plant 2 varieties for best pollination. Harvest 2nd year. Unpruned trees will reach 2/3 of standard (about 12-18'). By pruning, keep any tree to any size.

Plum

Elephant Heart: Sweet, juicy, rich flavor. The clingstone flesh has a nice balance of tart and sweet, the skin can be described as having a berry-like flavor. Large, heart-shaped fruit. Frosted, dark reddish colored skin that is mottled but still smooth. It's juicy, blood-reed flesh has a rich and distinctive flavor that is good for fresh eating, canning and freezing. Ripens in mid-season.  Mature size is 10ft-14ft high and 10ft-12ft wide.

Superior: Fast-growing clingstone bears red-blushed crimson fruits bursting with super-sweet yellow flesh. Ripens mid to late Aug. Hardy Japanese-American hybrid. We suggest Alderman or wild plums as a pollinator. Height: Semi-dwarf - 10 - 12 feet; Standard - 12 - 15 feet.

 Corylus Contorted: "Harry Lauder's Walking Stick" Mature height 8-10' Curled and twisted irregular branching rivals other small bushes for its eye-catching ornamental appeal as a specimen plant. In late winter the golden catkins hang down among the gray gnarled branches of the filbert, making it a plant for all seasons.
